In collaboration with the Fairbanks Flats Revitalization Group, this project documents one of the nation’s first segregated company housing projects. During redevelopment of the historic rowhomes, African Americans shared experiences growing up in the neighborhood during live portraiture sessions. A flipbook of quotes and photographs captures local sites connected to the Great Migration and the Underground Railroad. This project was funded in part by grants from the Wisconsin Arts Board and Visit Beloit. 2009.
