In this gallery you can view a map that I created for a visual art installation in the lobby of the Artist's Reparatory Theater during their 2012 production of Race, by David Mamet. Curated by The Open Door Gallery, this installation featured emerging Portland artists.
I sifted through a series of articles by journalist Nicole Hannah-Jones about the history (and contemporary experiences) of racial segregation in Portland. I selected 10 quotes to succintly illustrate these issues, and mounted the quotes onto a plasticized canvas map of Portland. In this gallery you can see images of the map in use and read the quotes from the map. Read full texts of the articles here.
